After Monday's arrival charette I felt as much as I have studied this space in 2D plan and tried to replicate the 3D space in a modeling program I still didn't have a good grasp of the space. Below are the 3 sketches that I produced (quickly- so be nice!) during our class charette. So after looking at these sketches again I still felt I needed to really get inside this space and create a feeling that would truly enhance the concept. So to do this I made a quick decision.. I first called the NorthStar Partnering Group (who owns the building) then went for a tour of the lobby for a second time. It truly is amazing how different a space can feel in person than it does portrayed in plan or in Sketchup. I realized I have much less space in the arrival area than I had envisioned and that the roof plane is slanted towards the southside of the building. I look forward to revisiting the arrival space after these findings. We shall see what a difference a 10 minute revisit of the space will make!
